Keith Moss
A recent addition to the Reekus roster, Keith Moss has been garnering plaudits for his music since being awarded the accolade ‘Young Songwriter of the Year’ by IMRO on his debut. Starting out as a solo performer, Keith has gone on to play with a number of bands through the years, on guitar, bass and backing vocals, performing in a wide variety of venues at home in Ireland and in the UK. His solo performances have seen him share the bill with The Incredible String Band, Gemma Hayes, Declan O’ Rourke and The Immediate, tour with Rodrigo Y Gabriela and Sweet Jane, and play both Wheatfield and Mountjoy prisons. He released his second single on Reekus, ‘Torture In Paradise’, in November; it is available from Amazon and all leading digital sites, while physical copies with two exclusive bonus tracks, ‘This Year’s Thing’ and ‘Jibroni Symphony’ will be available from the Reekus webstore, and gigs. His first album on Reekus is due for release in January 2013.

“Borrowing a few quirks from The Divine Comedy and a few tricks from The Shirelles, Dubliner Keith Moss sounds positively dreamy on debut single The War Outside Our Door, a sweet and woozy piece of alternative pop” - Hot Press single review
“A curious mixture of Bernard Butler and Loudon Wainwright III…An instinctive performer…Someone to keep a judicious eye out for”
- Tony Clayton-Lea, The Irish Times
- The Ticket/The Irish Times
“Funny and heartbreaking, angry and uplifting. The legacy of John Otway and Wreckless Eric lives on in this huge young talent”
- Time Out (From a review of a live performance at The 12 Bar Club in Soho, London)
“Keith Moss is no stranger to the music scene having played with and supported several bands, including Rodrigo y Gabriela. His latest single release, The War Outside Our Door, is a breath of fresh air in more ways than one…An entirely different sound from what we have been accustomed to hearing from our male solo artists. The deceptively political number sends out a positive message without depreciating the quality and catchy nature of the song…with a wonderful tune, uncomplicated musicianship and a common cause for concern. Moss’ lyrics and vocals are incredible on this track; simply an added bonus to the social commentary. Well worth a listen”
“An utterly-mesmerising amalgam of Nick Drake and a stoned ‘Weird’ Al Yankovic. The songs host a sublime pop sensibility…8/10”
- Hot Press
“This mesmerizing newcomer is receiving some serious critical acclaim…Keith Moss has the power to inspire a lot of opinions with his recent release. So what is it about this young Irishman that has everyone’s knickers in a knot? Well, he’s a force of nature, with a penchant for wordplay and looks that rival John Mayer’s pouty visage…It’s no wonder that people are developing a fascination with Moss and his music”
- In Your Speakers (US music blog)
“Positively drips with passion and emotion…sounds like Syd Barrett without the drug-induced psychosis”
- The Devil Has The Best Tuna (UK music blog)
“Honest, original and individual, the spirit of ‘76 lives and breathes through this little-known genius…A jammy dodger of Richard Hell, Neil Hannon and Lester Bangs all rolled into one scrumptious mouthful”
- Hot Press
“Think 80′s American indie a la Psychedelic Furs or Pixies with some airy vocals…The more you listen the better it gets…A great indication of what a varied musician Moss is”
“A neat slice of jangly baroque pop”
“The young Irishman seems to have a strange effect on UK critics, as I can’t recall ever seeing an artist receive so many seemingly disparate comparisons…Let me throw in Freedy Johnston and Ron Sexsmith”
- MOKB/My Old Kentucky Blog (US music blog)
“An instinctive showmanship and genuine musical talent that has been earning serious kudos…A veritable well of creativity”
- Inside Entertainment (Cork)
“This is either complete genius or utter bunkum…Influences prove difficult to pin - a touch of acoustic REM, Smashing Pumpkins, Billy McKenzie, perhaps even Nick Drake…Fantastically odd”
- Blank (Northern Ireland)
“One thing that you can say with certainty is that Moss is unique…and notoriously-prolific”
- Sunday Tribune
“The indie kid that Patti Smith and Syd Barrett could have had together”
“An unlikely melange of Nick Drake and Monty Python”
“Torture in Paradise the single is well worth a listen, particularly if you have a fondness for Bell X1… Beautfully sung lyrics; it’s definitely one for the indie music stations”
“The Dublin punk poet and rebel singer-songwriter Keith Moss who was once escorted from the building of NewsTalk for singing an ‘unsuitable’ song live on-air…”
“An original in a sea of shite”
- Jinx Lennon
